It made the coffee better

I loved hearing the ideas. The focus on getting the the user back and the idea of a newsletter or similar service to reinforce it. Make the mailing an extension of the website.(nice) The need to educate people and nuture their publishing skills so that they find value in what they are doing. To create a visual sense of who we are with photographs and text. All of this, over coffee in a perfect setting. Thanks to Sandy at the Big Easy.

Applied Agile Development

This website was supposed to be completed by last Monday.

What had to be finished was archive navagation. I did not want to break up the page flow and there is a lack of usefulness in the archive function in general. It became apparent that more time was needed to build the navagation. I responded to the change in project scope and tested that notion with this premise: Is what I want to do going to improve the interactive quality?

Using the Agile principle, "Individuals and interactions over processes and tools" allowed me to create a quality test that evaluated the change in scope and the apparent value that can be created by that change.

The result is a progressive archive in the right column called The Stacks. The idea is that recent weblog entries are contextually expanded while older entries are serialized. There is just the matter of adding the code to the metaphor. Using an Agile principle to prove need resulted in an improvement to the interactive quality of this page and while deadline is missed the opportunity to add value was not.
